Authentication error (government restrictions)

Description of issue

Some players cannot connect to the game due to government internet restrictions in their country.
When this happens, the client cannot reach the authentication servers.

Solution

Try the launch code (Steam)

  • Open your Steam Library.

  • Right-click SCP: Secret Laboratory and select Properties.

  • In the Launch Options box, type or paste:

--weak-http-security
  • Close the window and start the game.

Alternative Solution

  1. If that doesn’t fix it, try both method 1 and method 2 at the same time using the guide below:
    Authentication error: could not resolve hostname / stuck on authenticating
  2. If it still doesn’t work, whitelist SCPSL in your antivirus program.

If none of these work, sadly there’s nothing more that can be done.
