Diagnose Memory Issues with the Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool

Running a diagnostic tool on your RAM can solve random system crashes and other problems, due to this it may also help with Secret Lab crashes.

Two methods have been explained below:

Method 1 (Windows Memory Diagnostic)

The Windows Memory Diagnostic is an official tool from Microsoft that you can use to diagnose RAM issues, it comes with every recent Windows release.

You may follow these steps to activate the tool and have it scan your memory:

  1. Press the Windows key and R together.
  2. In the Run Box, type mdsched and press OK.

     3. A Windows Memory Diagnostic will appear, assuming you're not doing anything, click "Restart now and check for problems"

     4. The tool will restart your computer and attempt to check for problems, this can take a while.

     5.  Afterwards, you may or may not receive the results of the test. Regardless, attempt to run SCP: Secret Laboratory.

Method 2 (Advanced)

The tool that is used in method 2 is called memtest. It is more advanced but could produce better results than Microsoft's tool.

Unlike Microsoft's tool though, this one requires you have a spare USB Drive without any important files on it as it will copy itself and run from said USB.

    1. Obtain the memtest USB installer trough this link.
    2. Plug in your USB (Make sure there are no important files, they will be deleted!).
    3. Open the installer, select your USB from the dropdown (If you have multiple plugged in, check the drive letters in File Explorer)
