SCP:SL shows black screen and freezes on launch

Description of issue

This issue is typically caused by a wide variety of complimenting factors, ranging from Hardware issues, to malicious software, to issues with the game itself.

Ensure your PC meets our minimum system requirements. Your PC specs should match or be more powerful than the current minimum specs on steam. Anything less powerful risks having issues occur simply due to your hardware not being able to keep up with SCP:SL. As well, please ensure you are on an up-to-date version of Windows 11 and other operating systems are not supported at this time.

Computers that do not meet the minimum requirements often fail to start SCP:SL!

Resolutions

• Try deleting lib_burst_generated.dll from the game files. Here's how:
  • Navigate to the following directory: SCP Secret Laboratory\SCPSL_Data\Plugins\x86_64\
    
  • Delete the lib_burst_generated.dll file in that folder.

  • Running the game as administrator has been known to help.
  • Moving the game to another drive has been known to help.
