SCP:SL appears washed out, overly bright, or pale

Description of issue

Some users may experience the game appearing extremely washed out with low contrast, resulting in overly bright or faded visuals, brightened dark areas, and an overall pale look often caused by NVIDIA Freestyle filters being active, sometimes without the user's knowledge.

Nvidia Freestyle Filters

Disable NVIDIA Freestyle filters:
If you are using an NVIDIA graphics card, follow these steps:

  • Open the game.

  • Press Alt + Z to open the NVIDIA GeForce Experience overlay.

  • Click "Game Filter" or "Filters".

  • If any filters are enabled, disable them completely.

This fix resolves the issue in most cases.

AMD Settings

Disabling AMD Custom Color

Please follow the below to disable custom colours for AMD GPU's

  • Open AMD Adrenalin
  • Go to the settings icon in the top right
  • Go to the Display settings
  • Turn off Custom Color and Color Deficiency Correction

ASUS Armoury Crate Filters

Editing and disabling ASUS's Armoury Crate filters:
If you have ASUS's Armoury Crate installed, follow these steps:

  1. Open Armoury Crate
  2. Navigate to the GameVisual tab
  3. Select Default to return to ordinary settings, or switch to a different option to enable a filter that better suits your needs.

    Perform a full GPU driver reset (Optional):

    • If the issue persists or you're unsure whether filters/settings are enabled:

      • ⚠️ This is a more advanced fix and should only be used if disabling Freestyleany of the above does not work.
