SCP:SL appears washed out, overly bright, or pale

Description of issue

Some users may experience the game appearing extremely washed out with low contrast, resulting in overly bright or faded visuals, brightened dark areas, and an overall pale look often caused by NVIDIA Freestyle filters being active, sometimes without the user's knowledge.

Resolutions

1. Disable NVIDIA Freestyle filters:
   If you are using an NVIDIA graphics card, follow these steps:

   • Open the game.

   • Press Alt + Z to open the NVIDIA GeForce Experience overlay.

   • Click "Game Filter" or "Filters".

   • If any filters are enabled, disable them completely.

   This fix resolves the issue in most cases.
   
   

2. Perform a full GPU driver reset (Optional):
   If the issue persists or you're unsure whether filters/settings are enabled:

   • Follow our Complete Removal of GPU Drivers guide using DDU.
     ⚠️ This is a more advanced fix and should only be used if disabling Freestyle does not work.
