I’m getting disconnected from servers with the error “Processing of server security was too slow”!

Description of issue

This issue is typically caused by a variety of factors, which vary with individual users.

Before continuing, please ensure that you meet the requirements to play SCP:SL. Your PC specs should match or be more powerful than the current minimum specs on steam- anything less powerful risks having issues occur simply due to your hardware not being able to keep up with SCP:SL. As well, please ensure you are on an up-to-date version of windows 8.1 or 10- Windows 11 and other operating systems are not supported at this time.

Resolution steps

Perform a Clean Reinstall.

Attempt to play SCP: SL with an Ethernet cable, if not already using one.

Attempt to Play SCP:SL with a VPN of your choice. ProtonVPN is a solid option for users looking for free options to test with.
