IOException: Sharing violation on path AppData\Roaming\SCP Secret Laboratory\registry.txt

Description of issue

Players get immediately kicked back out to the main menu of the game when joining a server. The following error appears in the user's player.log file:

IOException: Sharing violation on path AppData\Roaming\SCP Secret Laboratory\registry.txt

Possible Causes:

  • Another process accessing the file when SCPSL is trying to use it, which causes SCPSL to be unable to use the file.
  • This will usually be an antivirus, as Real Time Protection will be scanning the file right before SCPSL tries to use it.

Solution:

  • DisableThe recommended fix is to whitelist SCPSL in your antivirus software. If necessary, temporarily disabling real-time protection can also help confirm whether the antivirus (oris whitelistcausing SCPSL).the issue.
